The renovation of this house south of San Francisco required a serious upgrade to the original 1990s architecture in order to create an environment commensurate in quality with the homeowners’ collection of fine and decorative art. From the new bronze gated doors inspired by the work of Carlo Scarpa to the entry hall floors of honed, scored, and bush-hammered Spanish limestone, we elevated the architectural materials, finishes, and detailing throughout. The rooms now provide a suitably noble backdrop for meticulously curated ensembles of important vintage and contemporary furnishings.
