For more than two decades, Studio Volpe has helped our clients realize their particular vision of living graciously and beautifully. Our guiding principle is that true, original style can only emerge from substance — architecture, landscape, furniture and art, working in unison.

From historic estates to penthouses of glass and steel to idyllic country retreats, our projects transcend artificial labels of modern and traditional. Instead, our work draws inspiration from the past, present and future, all in the service of creating comfortable, welcoming homes keyed to the rhythms of contemporary life.

Studio Volpe has been published in Architectural Digest, WSJ: The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Elle Décor and other international journals. A monograph on the firm’s work, published by Rizzoli, is slated for Fall 2021.

Steven Volpe

Steven Volpe established Studio Volpe in San Francisco after spending several years in Paris immersing himself in European design culture and history. Over the past quarter century, he has developed a reputation for orchestrating important fine and decorative art, both vintage and contemporary, in unexpected compositions that privilege connoisseurship as well as comfort.

Volpe is known for his incisive eye, extraordinary attention to detail, and encyclopedic knowledge of design history. He applies the same conceptual imperative to every project: make it new, make it meaningful, make it better.

From his historic Jackson Square office, Volpe has overseen the design of a broad array of city and country homes in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Paris and beyond. A fixture on the Architectural Digest 100 listing of the world’s preeminent designers, he and his work have graced the pages of numerous international publications. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas.
